His Forbidden Debutante by Annabelle Bryant

His Forbidden Debutante by Annabelle Bryant

This is book 4 in the Regency Charms series.

After being seriously injured in a carriage accident and having to learn to walk all over again, Lavinia Montgomery is finally ready to make her debut. Wanting a family of her own she is determined to find a husband, but she can't seem to forget the man that she fell in love with before her accident. Although she never meet the man, they exchanged letters and a connection grew between them. After her accident, Lavinia stopped writing to him. She felt that she no longer had anything to offer her gentleman.

Randolph James Caulfield, the Earl of Penwick, is engaged to be married. Unfortunately he can't seem to forget the woman that he fell in love with through the letters they exchanged and is doubting his decision. Then he meets Livi and feels an instant attraction for her. Now he really doesn't know what to do. He has a fiancee, a woman that stole his heart through their letter writing and now Livi whom he can't stop thinking about.

Can Lavinia and Randolph get through this mess to find their HEA?

Unmasking of a Lady by Sophie Dash

Unmasking of a Lady by Sophie Dash

Doing what she needs to survive, Miss Harriet Groves rides out at night as the Green Highwayman stealing from the rich so that her family is not ruined. She didn't count on Major Edward Roberts being brought in to bring the highwayman to justice. What makes it even worse is that she finds herself attracted to the man.

Edward has a job to do and doesn't like that he is being distracted my Harriet. He knows she is hiding something, but he can't figure it out. What will he do when he finds out the the woman he is falling for is the person he is charged with bringing to justice?

I thought this book had a lot of potential, but in the end it just fell flat. I liked the storyline. It was different from a lot of the historical romances that I read and that appealed to me. What it lacked was that the H/H hardly spent any time together. The whole point to a romance is to see the characters fall in love with each other. These two didn't spend enough time together to even make it believable.

Dash is a new author so I will check out her next book to see if it is any better. I'm always willing to give an author a second chance...

The Rakes Unveiling of Lady Belle by Raven McAllan

The Rake's Unveiling of Lady Belle by Raven McAllan

Lady Belinda Howell has set herself up as a mysterious dressmaker to the ton known as Madame Belle. Having run from her father after he tried to use her for his gains, Belinda needed to find a way to support herself. With the help of her best friend and the lady's godmother, Madame Belle was invented. Having resigned herself to a life of spinsterhood, she never counted on Lord Phillip Macpherson, the brother of her best friend, coming back into her life.

Phillip has gone to Madame Belle's to buy one of her creations to pay off a would be paramour. He didn't count on his instant attraction to the lady. Unable to convience her to marry him, he sets out to change her mind. But what happens when he learns that she is the friend of his sister's that he never stopped thinking about.

When Belinda's father comes back into her life, will Philip be able to protect the woman he has come to love?

After reading The Scandalous Proposal of Lord Bennett, I couldn't wait to read Belinda and Phillips story! McAllen did not disappoint!!  The sizzle between the two was red hot!

I love that Belinda was able to get out from under her father's thumb and not have to succumb to his plans for her. She was able to find a family that treated her as she should be treated even though they were not blood related.

As with any good rake, when he finds the woman for him all others cease to exist. Phillip had found his match and had decided his course, even though Belinda didn't want to follow its path...

This is the second book that I have read by McAllan and I loved it as much as the first one. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

The Scandalous Proposal of Lord Bennett by Raven McAllan

The Scandalous Proposal of Lord Bennett by Raven McAllan

Lady Clarissa Mcpherson has determined to never wed because she can't find anyone that makes her heart pound the way it does when she is around Lord Theodore "Ben" Bennett. A friend of her brother, Ben had never given her any indication that he even sees her as a woman. But everything changes the day that her comes to her rescue. They are caught in a compromising position and are forced to wed.

No one is more shocked than Ben himself that he came to the rescue of Clarissa. Although he is not ready to get married, he does need an heir, so now is as good a time as any to do it. What his beautiful new bride doesn't know is that he had been intrigued with her for many years. He has also made the decision to give up his rakish ways and be faithful to Clarissa.

What will it take to convience Clarissa that Ben has turned over a new leaf and is determined to be the husband that she wants and deserves?

I really liked this story! The bantering between Clarissa and Ben had me laughing out loud. They do say the rakes make the best husbands and that is certainly the case with Ben! Determined to make a marriage of their forced wedding, he did everything he could to get Clarissa to see that he was a changed man. Of course, if they had just talked a little sooner then they could have enjoyed the thrills of married life a little sooner...but then where would the story have been??

The next book in the series stars Clarissa's best friend Lady Belinda Howells and her brother Lord Phillip Macpherson. It looks to be just as good as this one!!

Society's Most Scandalous Viscount by Anabelle Bryant

Society's Most Scandalous Viscount by Anabelle Bryant

This is book 3 in the Regency Charms series.

Benedict, Viscount "Kell" Kellaway, has gone to Brighton to get away from the latest scandal he and his father created. He finds solace away from the ton and on his beach. One evening he sees what he believes to be an apparition of a woman walking the beach. He returns the next night to find that it was actually a flesh and blood woman...one that seems to affect him as no other has before.

Angelica Curtis is spending the week with her grandmother. Dreading the moment she must return to London and learn what fate her father has planned for her, she walks the beach at night enjoying the freedom that will soon be lost. On one of those walks, she encounters Benedict. Feeling an instant attraction to him, she asks him for her first kiss knowing that she needs something to hold close to her heart in the years to come.

Can these two lost souls find what their heart desires in each other?

After learning more about Kell in Undone by his Kiss, I imagined that there had to be more to him than he showed the world at large. We already knew that he hated his parents and the scandals that they brought with them, but we really hadn't seen what those scandals did to Kell and how they made him into the man that he is. We definitely see a different side of the viscount in this story.

Angelica was just as defined by her father as Kell was by his. His religious beliefs kept her on the straight and narrow and it wasn't until she knew that he had plans for her that she ventured out to make some memories for herself.

I think the suffering that both Kell and Angelica went through drew them to each other. They both had horrible upbringings and I think they could sense a kindred soul in the other.

Another wonderful story by Bryant! It looks like the next book in the series will be out in early 2016 and I can't wait to read it!

Undone by His Kiss by Anabelle Bryant

Undone by His Kiss by Anabelle Bryant

This is book 2 in the Regency Charmes series.

Determined to never marry because she would end up having to give up her independance, Emily Shaw rents a room to hold meetings of her Women's League. She never counted on being attracted to the downstairs tenant.

Jasper St David is just trying to make a go of his new business. He definitely didn't have time to be distracted by his beautiful upstairs neighbor. Learning that Emily is determined not to allow a man to distract her from her future, Jasper sets out to challenge that belief.

Can this unlikely duo find a middle ground in which they find the love they weren't looking for?

Loved this story!! I wasn't too impressed with Jasper when he was in Defying the Earl. He just seemed to be out for the quick buck and it didn't bother him that his family didn't have any money. He just kept spending it.

We see a different side of him in this story. In Defying, we see Jasper through his brother's eyes. Now we see the real him. He is trying his hardest to make a name for himself and to start a legitimate business. He wants it to go well to prove to his brother that the money he earn to bring them back from financial disaster wasn't a fluke. That is not to say that the carefree young man is gone, because he isn't. We see his playfulness come out when he is with Emily.

Emily has developed a distrust of men after what her father did to her and her mother. She doesn't want to have to count on another man to give her the things she needs. She wants to do it on her own. She doesn't like that she is falling for Jasper because she thinks that makes her weak. Jasper makes her realize that this isn't true. Just because you have a man in your life, it doesn't mean that you have no say about what goes on in it.

Another great read by Bryant!! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Defying the Earl by Anabelle Bryant

Defying the Earl by Anabelle Bryant

This is book 1 in the Regency Charms series.

Wilhelmina "Whimsy" Montgomery must find a way to support her aunt, sister and herself after the death of her parents. Trying her hand at matching making, she gets her first paying job that appears to be a piece of cake. The couple is very close to getting engaged anyway, she she just needs to make sure they stay on that path. She hadn't counted on Valerian St. David.

Valerian, the Earl of Dashwood, hardly has enough money to feed himself, let alone pay his staff and support his properties.  His brother is full of ridiculous ideas on how to make money, but his latest scheme might just work. Valerian is going to act as a match breaker. He is quickly hired to break up his first couple, which just happens to be the couple that Whimsy is trying to keep together.

What happens when these two cross paths with different purposes? Sparks fly for sure!

LOVED this story. I always love a story where the H/H banter with each other throughout the story and this story had plenty of that. Bryant hits it out of the ballpark again!! I can't wait for the next book in the series!

The Midnight Rake by Anabelle Bryant

The Midnight Rake by Anabelle Bryant

The author doesn't have the books linked as a series, but it has characters from To Love a Wicked Scoundrel and Duke of Darkness.

Penelope Rosebery and her sister have been left penniless by her disreputable fiancee. Hoping to find him in London, they are waylaid by a broken axle when the Viscountess of Fenhurst comes to their rescue. Inviting them to join her to London, she eventually gives them shelter in her son's home.

Phineas Betchum is surprised to find his mother and her guests in his home. Having promised his mother to help, he is now required to escort Penelope around town in hopes of her finding her missing fiancee. Having no desire to marry, Phineas is dismayed to realize how strong of an attraction he feels for Penelope.

Can Phineas help Penelope with her problem before he secums to her charm?

I definitely enjoyed this story as much as the other two in the series. It was also nice to see the characters from the other stories again.

I liked Penelope. She was a very strong woman to take off on her own to try to get justice for herself. Phineas was very likeable too. It was interesting to watch him struggle with what he thought he wanted and what his heart knew he needed.

Bryant did a good job of adding a bit of a mystery to the story to keep it interesting.  There is one last friend in the group, so I'm assuming that his story will come next. I look forward to seeing what Bryant has in store for us.

A Most Improper Proposal by Molly Ann Wishblade

A Most Improper Proposal by Molly Ann Wishblade

Society doors are barely open for Isabella Adams after four scandalous attachments to her name. Without the help of Lady Watson, she would not be received. Everything she does must be perfect or she will wreck everything the woman has done for her.  When a stranger sweeps her off her feet, Isabella yearns for more from her life.

Lord James Crawford learns that the woman that has so enchanted him is his aunt's companion.  Being warned of Isabella's past, James just can't imagine that the rumors are true. As they get to know one another, they can not deny the attraction they feel.

Can these two lonely hearts get over their past to find the love of a lifetime?

This was my first book by Molly Ann Wishblade and I will definitely be back for more! I liked her style of writing which drew me to the characters and kept me wanting more.

Some stories have so many other sub plots going on that they take away from the love story. That is not the case with this one. The story focused on James and Isabella and how their love for each other grew. It delved into their back stories to let us see what made them into the individuals they are today but the focus stayed on the couple on not on a ton of other extenuating circumstances.

I will definitely be checking out more books by this author. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Duke of Darkness by Anabelle Bryant

Duke of Darkness by Anabelle Bryant.

This is book two in the series. You can read about book 1 HERE.

The Duke of Wharncliffe, Devlin Ravensdale, has just learned that his last living relative has just passed away.  Her last request was to have Devlin take care of her ward, Alex, and arrange a suitable marriage. When Devlin arrives to do just that, he learns that his ward is not a young boy but a beautiful marriage young lady.

Alexandra (Lexi as Devlin calls her) is not happy about being put into another man's care. She ran away from home when her father tried to marry her off, she don't want someone else doing it to her again. After losing a bet to Devlin, Lexi agrees to be taken to London to find a husband.

With the help of a friend and his sister, Devlin ventures back into society to launch Lexi only to be reminded why he rarely returned to the social scene.  He endures because he is determined to fulfill his aunt's last wish. But what happens when Devlin decides that he wants Lexi for himself?

We met Devlin in the previous story and the only thing we really know about him is that he doesn't venture out into society very often. But I really liked is easy going relationship with the other characters so I was intrigued enough to really want to read his story.  Bryant did not disappoint.

Lexi is perfect for Devlin. She wants to marry someone that she loves. Her father already tried to marry her off once before and she ran away instead of following his wishes.  Her attraction to Devlin is almost instantaneous upon meeting him and she feels like he feels the same way.  She goes along with his plan to find her a husband knowing all along that he is the man for her. She just needs to convience him.

Even though Devlin is falling for Lexi, he doesn't think that he would make her a good husband. He thinks madness runs in his family and couldn't do that to her.  Lexi does everything in her power to convience him otherwise.

I really hope that Bryant continues with this series as I would love to see what happens to the secondary characters!

To Love a Wicked Scoundrel by Anabelle Bryant

To Love a Wicked Scoundrel by Anabelle Bryant.

Isabelle Rossmore's step-mother is demanding that they travel to London as she is ready to get rid of her widow's weeds. Since Isabelle doesn't want to be separated from her sister, she agrees to go.  She soon meets a gentleman that peaks her interest. Unfortunately it's the man her step-mother has decided she wants to have an affair with.

Constantine (Con) Highborough, the Earl of Colehill, is smitten the first time he lays eyes on Isabelle. Unfortunately things go wrong and he ends up promising a dance to her step-mother instead of Isabelle.

Known as a scoundrel and a very eligible bachelor, Isabelle can't imagine what Con sees in her. She was told over and over again by her father that she was a disappointment to him. That along with other verbal abuses gave Isabelle a very low opinion of herself.

Having been abused by his father, Con has hardened his heart to everyone but his few closest friends. But as he opens up to Isabelle, he realizes that cracks are forming in that hardened heart of his.  With the help of Lily, Isabelle's sister, Con eventually conveniences Isabelle of his sincerity, but will a misunderstanding end it all?

I can not believe that this is the first book written by Anabelle Bryant. Her storytelling rivals any established author in the market and I look forward to reading many more books by her.

I absolutely LOVED this book.  I really liked Isabelle and how she called out Con. He was so use to getting exactly what he wanted that he was a little shocked when Isabelle basically turned him down. But that didn't stop him.  One reason that he got what he wanted was that he wasn't willing to back down from something once he started.  He wanted Isabelle and he was going to do what he had to to get her.

Isabelle on the other had was almost the opposite. She had no idea what Con saw in her and couldn't believe that someone who could get anyone would want her.  Con had to show her that she was special. Up to that point the only person to show Isabelle love was her sister, Lily.  Con had to use all of his charm to convince Isabelle that he was sincere in his interest of her.

Isabelle and Con were perfect for each other.  I can't wait to read more books by Anabelle Bryant and be consumed by her words. I just couldn't put the book down!
