Charley is only in England because her deceased mother would have wanted her to have a season and marry an Englishman. She would much rather be back in America and working on her father's whiskey business. With the hopes of seeing how the Scot's make their whisky, she reluctantly agrees to go. What she doesn't count on is her father winning a bet that leads her to be courted by an Earl.
Julian always follows through with an agreement. So when he loses a hand of cards against Charley's father and the loss means that he must court Charley and convince her to marry him, he does what he has to. He tells Charley all about the bet and she agrees to be courted, but claims she will never marry him.
The more time that Julian spends with Charley, convinces him that she is the woman for him. Can he convince her that their courting should lead to an actual marriage between them?
I really enjoyed Charley and Julian's story. I loved that Charley wasn't afraid to share who she really was and that Julian fell for the real her. This is an awesome start to a new series and I'm excited to see what Anders has in store for us next!
