How to Bewitch an Earl by Ally Broadfield

How to Bewitch an Earl by Ally Broadfield

This is book 2 in the How To series.

Miss Isabella Winthrop is just trying to make enough money as a companion to help her brother pay off their debts. But when she ends up at a house party with nothing to do, she ends up helping to try and solve the mystery of the missing heirloom. Which of course means that she spends quite a bit of time with Edward Adair, the heir to the Duke of Boulstridge.

Edwards parents are demanding that he marry, but all he wants to do is find the missing heirloom. He didn't count on getting help from the beguiling Isabella. Paying Isabella to pose as his indented keeps the other guests out of the way but he didn't count on being so attracted to his partner in crime.

Will their pretend betrothal become one in truth?

I enjoyed this story.  I did really liked all the bantering between Isabella and Edward. This story had the right combination of romance with just enough mystery added in to make it just that much more interesting.

I can't wait to see what Broadfield has in store for us next!

Say You'll Love Me by Ally Broadfield

Say You'll Love Me by Ally Broadfield

Lady Abigail Hurst is excited to finally announce her betrothal to her childhood sweetheart. But when he ends up being the prime suspect in his mistress's murder, Abigail realizes that he is not the man that she thought he was. Turning to her best friend's brother for help, she hopes to learn if her fiance is innocent or not.

Edmund Townsend, the Marquess of Longcroft, prefers to work mathematical equations over attending society events. But when Abigail asks for his help, he can't turn her down. Thrust into society with Abigail at his side makes him reconsider his stance on marriage and possibly even love.

Can these two solve the murder and find their other half?

I really loved the first book that I read by Broadfield, How to Beguile a Duke. I was really looking forward to this one, but find that I'm a little disappointed with it.
The writing was great as was the storyline. But I just didn't feel like the H/H were great characters. There was really nothing about them that stood out to me. For me to really enjoy a book, I need to love both leads. To me, Abigail and Edmund were just ok. I like a hero to be swoon worthy and he just wasn't.

I'm hopeful that Broadfield's next book is more like Beguile than her latest...

How to Beguile a Duke by Ally Broadfield

How to Beguile a Duke by Ally Broadfield.

Catherine Malboeuf is on a mission to get her ancestral home back and to find a diamond tiara that belonged to her grandmother. Unfortunately, Nicholas Adair, Duke of Boulstridge stands in her way.

Having been denied an audience with the Duke, Catherine breaks into his home to search for a diary she hope will lead her to the tiara only to be caught by the Duke himself. During down Catherine when asked about purchasing his home he decides to make a bet with her. If she can get a proposal from a titled member of the peerage, he will sell her the house.

Nicholas doesn't think he can lose. Catherine has been raised out of England, carries a knife and is the daughter of a rumoured pirate. There is no chance that he will have to give up the home that he saved from destruction.

What happens when he himself might be the cause him losing the wager? As he spends more time with Catherine, he can't help but be intrigued.

I loved this story. I tend to gravitate to the heroines that are not typical and Catherine definitely fits the bill.  She was raised where the rules were much more relaxed and it shows in her personality. I loved that she was able to turn the stuffy ol' Nick into a person that everyone would fall in love with.

This is my first novel by Broadfield and it definitely won't be my last.
