The Wager by Lily Maxton

Looking for a naughty book in her host's library to win a bet with her sister, Anne Middleton encounters Michael Grey, the Earl of Thornhill. Having once courted Anne's sister, Anne believes that Michael has a dislike of her.
Being very abrupt with Michael and quickly exiting the library, she feels remorse at her actions and decides to send Michael an apology letter. They soon begin writing each other back and forth. Revealing more and more to each other, they soon realize that their first impressions of each other were not accurate.

Michael proposes his own wager to Anne, but will she accept it?
I was very impressed with Maxton's first novel, The Affair, and was eagerly awaiting her second. She did not disappoint! Maxton has a way of telling a short story that is not seen in a lot of writers. She is able to get the depth of a full length novel in just a few short pages.

I loved the letters written back and forth between Anne and Michael.  It allowed them to bring up things that might not have been said had they been talking in person.  I always enjoy good bantering between the H/H and Maxton did this perfectly!

I eagerly await the final book in the series!!

You can get this book at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Google Play.
