Genie has been persuaded by her cousin to attend the house party she is hosting. Having been in mourning for her beloved husband for the past two years, she thinks that it will be a nice way to ease herself back into society...that is until she learns just what type of party she has been invited to. She is shocked to learn that the party is a way to match windowed ladies with unmarried gentleman. Genie has no desire to be marched, but the weather keeps her from leaving.
Edmund has been infatuated with Genie since her coming out. But he was much too young to settle down at that point and Genie as soon married. He is now ready to get married and is thrilled to see Genie at the house party. Can Edmund convince Genie that he is the man for her?
I really enjoyed Genie and Edmund's story. I liked that Burke depicted finding love for a second time. Too often when it is a second marriage in a historical romance, the first one was horrible or it was to a much older man and they were just friends. It was fun watching these two fall for one another even though Genie was against it from the beginning...This was a great addition to the Untouchables series!
