Jenny is helping to raise money, weapons and troops for the Jacobite rebellion. On one of her trips to recruit members, she runs across Toran and his cousin. She doesn't know if she can trust him, so keeps her eye on him. When he leaves one day, she believes she has seen the last of him.
Toran is determined to bring down the Jacobites that killed his mother. When he comes across Jenny and her ban of rebels, he sees the perfect opportunity to join them and finally find the answers he was looking for. But he gets word that his siblings are in danger, so must leave the rebel group to retrieve them. With he returns with his siblings and another cousin in tow, he knows she is even more suspicious of him. The closer he gets to Jenny, he can't imagine that she had anything to do with his mother's death. But with Jenny's distrust, he might never learn what happened.
As they grow closer to one another and start to trust the other, things conspire to sever that trust. Can these two who appear to be on opposite sides of the rebellion find their way back to one another?
I love Jenny and Toran story! I love that Jenny was the one to lead her clan in the rebellion when her brother decided to side with the English. I loved that Toran would do anything for his family, including going to the other side to seek justice. This was a great start to a new series and I can't wait to see where Knight takes us next!
