Boudreaux's Lady by Lauren Smith

Philippa has spent the last two years as the upstairs maid to a lord. While it isn't what she wants to do for the rest of her life, she is content for now. Her life is turned upside down when a visitor sees her and tries to kill her. When a second attempt on her life is made, her employer has to do something drastic.

Beau will be the first to admit he is a rogue, but he is also a gentleman. So when he sees a female being accosted, he does what he can to save her. After rescuing Philippa, a plan is put into pace to catch the culprit. One that includes Philippa acting as the ward of Beau and moving in with him.

The more time they spend together, the closer they get. While Beau has vowed to never marry, Philippa knows that he is out of her reach. Will these two find a way to be together as well a catch a killer?

I really enjoyed Philippa and Beau's story. I liked watching Philippa navigate her new role in society as Beau's ward, it added another layer to the story. I also enjoyed watching Beau's wall fall down. The more time he spent with Philippa, he opened himself up to accept her love.

I loved the Duke of St Alban in this story too!! I loved that he looked at Beau as his son and gave him the family that he desperately needed at the time.
