While her father worked for the Duke of Gayle, Meredith grew up with the children of the home and was treated like family. But suddenly her father is left go and she must leave the only home and family she has ever known. Her father soon dies and she must make a living for herself. She finds that she is good a matchmaking and starts to make a name for herself. While with her latest charge, she runs into Barry, the son of her father's former employer. He was always just the younger brother of her best friend, but now he is grown up and appears to be a rogue! Several months later, Meredith is invited back to her old home by the duchess. When she arrives, she realizes that the duchess whats her to matchmake for Barry. While the money that she is being offered would set her up for the rest of her life, why is trying to find Barry the perfect match feel so wrong?
Barry has just watched his sister fall in love and now his mother has turned her sights on him. When he finds out that his mother has hired his sister's former best friend to find him a match, he is livid. But he works out a deal with Meredith. He will mingle with his mother's guests at the house party, if she will spend time each morning remembering what it is to have fun.
As these two send time together, it is hard for both of them to deny the feelings that are starting to develop. While Barry is not ready to marry, Meredith feels that she is not of a high enough class for a future duke. Can these two reconcile these things to get their HEA?
I loved Meredith and Barry's story! I loved that they had a common history that tied them together and because of that, were comfortable with each other. You really didn't have any of the awkward moments that often happen as people get to know one another. But sine they had spent so many years apart from one another, they still had lots to lean about what their lives were like now. I loved the bantering between them and it had me laughing out loud. I can't wait to see what Caldwell has in store next!
