How to Handle a Scandal by Emily Greenwood

How to Handle a Scandal by Emily Greenwood

This is book 2 in the Scandalous Sisters series.

Tommy Halifax fled England 7 years ago when Eliza Trueheart broke his heart. Returning now only to visit is family and to be knighted for his service to the crown, he knows it is inevitable that he will run into her.

Eliza feels horrible for what she did to Tommy all those years ago and has been living a life with virtually no fun at all to atone for what she did.

When they have an intimate encounter that changes everything, how will the two of them get past their past?

I really enjoyed this story. Having met Eliza in The Beautiful One, I knew that her history would effect how she found love. As a teen, she was a spoiled rotten girl, which is what lead to her breaking Tommy's heart all those years ago.

With this story, we have seen that Eliza has grown up and is actually a widow having been married an older gentleman. She has turned her life around and is not longer the girl that is only out for a good time.

It takes Tommy some time to realize that Eliza has changed. He she sides of her that he had not seen before, but it is hard for him to believe after hating her for so long.

There were several secondary characters that I hope get their own story.  I'm looking forward to seeing what Greenwood has in store for us next!

The Beautiful One by Emily Greenwood

The Beautiful One by Emily Greenwood

This is book 1 in the Scandalous Sisters series.

Finding out the someone has made nude drawings of her, Anna Black must find some way to hide from society. She takes a job as a seamstress at a girl's school, but soon finds herself acting as the companion to the ward of Viscount Grandville.

Will Halifax, Viscount Grandville, doesn't want his ward (Lizzy) and her companion in his home. Lizzy reminds him too much of his dead wife. Having closed himself off on his estate, he doesn't like his solitude taken away from him. Realizing that he has no where to send Lizzy, he convinces Anna to stay until he can find another companion or school to send her to.

Anna soon realizes that Will and Lizzy need each other. They are both in pain from losing loved ones. What happens when Anna realizes she needs Will too?

I enjoyed this story. The tension of Anna being found by the owner of the sketches added another dimension to it. You're never quite sure when it will happen, but you know that it will cause some drama.

Will has closed himself off after losing his wife. He had been in love with her and didn't want to go through the pain of losing another loved one, so he closed himself off from everyone else. We see Anna trying to break through that hard exterior to get Will to connect with Lizzy and in turn she falls for him herself.

I look forwarding to reading book two in the series, which comes out in March 2016.

Gentlemen Prefer Mischief by Emily Greenwood

Gentlemen Prefer Mischief by Emily Greenwood.

This is book 2 in the Mischief series.

Lily Teagarden has got to do something about the mysterious lights that keep showing up in the local woods as it is interfering with her business. When she finds out that her neighbor, Viscount Roxham, is finally home she goes to him for help.

Roxham is intrigued by the woman that Lily has become. He knew that Lily had a crush on him when she was younger and at one point had taken her journal. He uses this to to tease Lily out of her seriousness.

Roxham agrees to help Lily solve the mystery. When she finds out who the fiend is, a friend in need, she sabotages Roxham's efforts.  He then retaliates by telling Lily that he will return the journal for the identity of the fiend.

The mischief that Lily instigates intrigues Roxham and he uses his rakish ways to seduce her. Will they find the love that both of them secretly want?

I fell in love with Roxham during Greenwood's first novel, A Little Night Mischief and couldn't wait to see how his story unfolded. The banter between Roxham and Lily had me laughing out loud. Lily did so many things to keep Roxham from finding out who the fiend was that I couldn't wait to she what she would do next.  I like that Greenwood makes you fall in love with the secondary characters in her stories and keeps you wanting more.  Her next book features the Earl of Ivorwood.  I do hope that Roxham's sister gets her own story too!
