Isabelle is on her way to her brother's party when her maid gets sick on the way. They stop at an inn so that she can get help from a doctor. But when a snow storm comes in, they end up trapped for days. Knowing that her reputation would be in ruins if anyone learns who she really is, Isabelle poses as a widow. With the employees at the inn also sick, she has no one to help her with her clothes. What is she to do but ask her handsome neighbor for help...
Calvin has been at the inn finishing up a project that will determine the path of his future. He can't afford to be stuck at the inn during the snow storm, as he needs his business partner to help him finish the project. But when he learns that Isabelle can draw, he allows her to help him with the project.
They grow closer as they work together, but what will happen when Calvin learns who Isabelle really is? Will they have a future together?
I really enjoyed Isabelle and Calvin's story. It was a nice change of pace to see these two fall in love while at the inn. No distractions from others people or events put a different twist on the story. It allowed them to really be who they truly were and not be trapped behind a facade because of their station in life. This was a great addition to the 12 Dukes of Christmas series!
