Patience can't believe that she is being forced to marry again. After losing two husbands, whom were very cruel to her, she can't imagine going through it a third time. With a nickname of the Savage Slayer, she doesn't have any hope that this marriage will be any better than the others. When her intended comes upon her during a moment of whimsy, she decides to act like she is crazy. Maybe if he believes her, she won't have to marry for the third time.
Brodee became the enforcer for the king in hopes of getting his own lands and castle. He didn't count on having to get married to do so. When he meets Patience, he is not certain what to think. I loved Brodee and Patience story!! Both of them had been through so much. Patience growing up with a cruel father and being married off to horrific husbands. Brodee growing up and not being good enough for his father. These two wounded souls were able to heal each other. I loved it!!
