Lady Beresford's Lover by Ella Quinn

Lady Beresford's Lover by Ella Quinn

This is book 7 in the Marriage Game series.

Even though he wants to fall in love, Rupert, the Earl of Stanstead has decided to avoid entanglements for the time being. Having had his heart broken one too many times, enough is enough. But then Vivian comes in to his life and all bets are off.

After being verbally abused and told that she was unattractive and deformed by her first husband, Vivian, Countess of Beresford, can't imagine that anyone would find her attractive. After an encounter with Rupert at a masquerade party, Vivian decides to have an affair with him. Always in her masquerade costume when they meet, Vivian doesn't think that Rupert knows who she is.

Can they find the passion they have in the nights to start a real life together that doesn't include hidden identities?

This is probably my favorite of the Marriage Game series. We've seen Rupert throughout the series and I had hoped that he would find his HEA.

I was an interesting twist that Vivian thought that Rupert was courting her during the day and seducing Cleopatra by night. It allowed Vivian to come out of her shell in a way that wouldn't have happened had they just been courting as herself during the day and at society functions.

As with others in the series, we have a secondary love story between the new Lord Beresford and Vivian's friend Sylvia. I loved reading their story just as much as Rupert and Vivian's.
