Never Resist a Rake by Mia Marlowe
This is book 2 in the Somerfield Park series.
John Fitzhugh Barrett is suddenly thrown into a life that he never wanted. Being declared the legitimate heir to the Somerset marquessate has John running to London to forget that he was an unwanted child. Drowning his feeling in debauchery, he encounters Rebecca Kearsey in a seedy underground fighting ring. Recognizing her as a lady, he does what is necessary to "win" her.
John's family uses Rebecca to get him to come to the family seat. They want him to find a suitable bride. He agrees to go on the condition that Rebecca and her family are also invited. He wants at least one ally while he treads the waters of his new world.
What happens when this unlikely duo can't fight their attraction any longer?
I really enjoyed this story. There was a different dynamic with this story as John has not been raised in the aristocracy and didn't have the same mentality as most in his position would. Rebecca is the daughter of a viscount, but since the family has no money she doesn't really fit into polite society either. They complimented each other very nicely.
I hope that Marlowe continues this series, as I have really enjoyed the characters in them.
