Dearest Rogue by Elizabeth Hoyt

Nearly blind, Lady Phoebe Batten has a bodyguard with her at all times. Her over-protective brother, a powerful duke, hired Captain James Trevillion to be her escort whenever she left the house. Although injured while in service to the crown, James can shoot and ride with the best of them. His injury was never a problem until Phoebe was targeted by kidnappers.

Deciding that he could no longer handle being Phoebe's guard, James resigns his position. When a second attempt to kidnap Phoebe is successful, James knows he is the only one that can keep her safe. Once he has rescued her, James takes Phoebe to a place where no one will be able to locate them until the duke can find the culprit.

Having always been irritated by James trailing her at all time, Phoebe is surprised when she realizes that her feelings have changed. Will hiding in seclusion change the nature of their relationship?

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this story!! I met Phoebe and James when I read Darling Beast (which was the first book in the series that I read - unfortunately I haven't found time to go back and read the others). I had a feeling that Hoyt would pair the two of them together and blessedly I was not disappointed!!

When the two of them are together, sparks just fly!! The bantering between the two of them is a joy to watch. I'm hoping to see more of them in the upcoming book that is set to release in November.

  1. The bantering was quite fun wasn't it? I also loved this book...and both characters were great...but I especially loved the heroine...she was quite fiery at times...and I loved seeing that come out.
