Amy's father has told her that she is to marry his best friend's son. Knowing that this man is a scoundrel, Amy is not willing to go down without a fight. She convinces her father to give her some time to observe her fiancé in London, to see if he is someone she could marry. What her father doesn't know, is that she plans to do more than observe. She gets introduced to her betrothed, but gives him an assumed name. She doesn't want him to know who she is. As they get closer, he never lets her know that he has a fiancée. How can she marry a man that isn't honest with her?
Owen hates the fact that his father betrothed him to a woman that he has never met, but he knows that his family will be ruined if he doesn't. He is having one last summer of fun, before his marriage when he meets the woman of his dreams. The only problem is that she is married. But with an absent husband, he sets out to charm her. She sets some ground rules that drive Owen mad, but decides that she is worth it. As the summer comes to an end, he knows he needs to end the affair, but he doesn't want to let her go.
Owen soon learns that the woman he is having an affair with is none other than his fiancée, which makes his ecstatic. He is in love with the woman he is to marry. The only problem is that Amy is furious with him. Can he get back in her good graces?
I really enjoyed Owen and Amy's story. I kinda figured while reading book 1 that the woman Owen was involved with would end up being the one he was betrothed to, so it didn't come as a surprise to me. I love that she was taking a step to help herself. She was told of this marriage, but she wanted to know what kind of man she would be marrying, so took it upon herself to find out. Genius!!
I'm excited to see how Callum and Eliza find their happiness in the next book in the series!
