The Forgotten Marquess by Jane Charles

Trent was devastated when he learned that his wife was swept overboard during a trip to visit her grandmother. Even though everyone told him she was gone, he never let go of the idea that she was still alive out there somewhere. When he is trapped into a betrothal, he is forced to declare his wife dead. But soon after his unwanted marriage, he learns that his first wife is still alive. Unfortunately, she has no memory of him.

Elaina has no memory of her life before waking up in Alderney. She knows that she was on a merchant ship and that she went overboard. Another passenger knows her name, but not anything else about her. After three years of trying to remember the past, she is resigned to forge a new future. But as soon as she accepts a marriage proposal from a friend, she meets a man claiming to be her brother in law. She ends up returning to England and her family.

Once Elaina returns to her childhood home, she starts to regain her memories. But those with her husband still elude her. Trent is desperate to have his wife back. Will she ever remember him?

I absolutely adored this story. This is my first book by Charles and I will definitely be back for more!! What can I saw about this book without giving too much away? I had so many emotions while reading this. I was happy and sad and cried a few tears, but it was all worth it! You definitely need to read this book!! I know that the year has just started, but this is the best read I've had this year!
