Eleanor has been dubbed the Ice Queen when her almost fiancé proposes to another and she shows no emotion. She has been coached from birth to not let others know what she is feeling and she doesn't know any other way to act. With her father gone and her brother missing, she must marry or she and her mother will be destitute.
Eleanor's mother arranges for her to visit an old friend, Lottie, to get lessons on how to make herself more appealing to men, since marriage is the only thing that will save the two of them. When Eleanor arrives, there is an additional person that is brought into the mix, Lord Charles.
Charles has reluctantly stepped up into the role of the new duke. It is not one he has ever wanted as he loves to travel and go on his adventures, just as his father did. Charles has known Lottie since they were children, so he would do anything to help her out. When she comes to him to help work with Eleanor, he agrees. Even though he was just supposed to help her, he finds himself becoming more and more attracted to her himself as they spend time together.
Charles has no plans to marry, but he can't stomach the idea of Eleanor going to someone else. Can these two get their HEA?
I loved Eleanor and Charles story!! I think this is my favorite book of Martin's that I have read! I loved watching Charles draw Eleanor out of the rigidness she had been living her life under. She just bloomed when she was around him. You definitely need to pick this one up!! You won't want to put it down!!
