The Rogue Returns by Leigh LaValle

Lady Helen Gladstone must find the hidden gold her brother buried in the country or her family falls into ruin. After Helen searches for the gold all day, Roane Grantham shows up looking for it too. Claiming that half of it is his, he wants to take over the search when they find a map instead of the gold inside the wooden box.

Not willing to give up her search, Helen demands that Roane allow her to help him search out the gold.  They don't count on their mutual attraction or former enemies jeopardizing their search.  Can they find the gold while evading their enemies and the folly of their attraction?

I really liked this story. It was different from most of the stories that I read in that the setting was not amongst the ton for the majority of it.  For most of the story, Roane and Helen are just with each other and nature. I think that this made it possible for the two of them to truly see what the other was made of. When you put people out of their element, it shows what they are made of. In the case of Helen, it showed that she was much more than even she thought.

I'm sorry so see the end of this series as I grew to really like the characters! I can't wait to see what Leigh LaValle has in store for us next.
