A Promise of More by Bronwen Evans

Beatrice Hennessey is determined to get Lord Coldhurst to marry her in order to save her family from debtors prison after he killed her brother in a duel. She didn't count on their first meeting being him fishing her out of the Thames.

Sebastian, Lord Coldhurst, hadn't planned to get married anytime soon. But knowing that he owes this family a debt he agrees to the marriage. He has never wanted a love match like his parents because of all the hurt they caused each other and this is the perfect solution. Beatrice will never love him since he killed her brother and there was no chance he would fall in love with the spinster.

They are married the next day and are quickly drawn into the mystery of who is targeting the Libertine Scholars. But what happens to their marriage when what they believe to be true turns out to be different?

This is another home run for Bronwen Evans.  I was once again sucked into the mystery of the Libertine Scholars. I loved seeing the progression of Sebastian and Beatrice's love for each other.  She has to get over the fact that he killed her brother and he has to get over that fact that he was blackmailed into marriage.  The chemistry between the characters is almost instantaneous and both were fighting against it for their own reasons.
Having met Sebastian in the previous novel, I really enjoyed getting to know him better. We see his love for his sisters and Aunt and come to a better understanding of why he didn't want love to factor into his marriage.  When Beatrice starts hiding things from Sebastian, he has a strong reaction to them and starts to wonder if he is just like his father. Something that he was trying to avoid at all costs. These secrets also contribute the adventures that the H/H go on.

Bronwen Evans writes the type of books that don't allow you to walk away from them.  Once you get started you will not want to put it down.  I can't wait for the next book in the series!

You can get this book at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
