Will's True Wish by Grace Burrowes

Will's True Wish by Grace Burrowes

This is book 3 in the True Gentlemen series.

Will Dorning has always been he keeper of his rambunctious brothers. He is the one to get them out of trouble when needed and to make sure they have what they need. Knowing that he can never give up his duty, he is destined to never marry. But when he reconnects with childhood friend, Lady Susannah Haddonfield, he wonders if there might be something else in store for his future.

Susannah is worried about her sister's prospects. The one man that has taken a liking to her sister, holds a distain for Susannah for her dislike of dogs. She turns to Will for help, the one man that came to her rescue during her coming out. Already having a crush on Will, her feeling for him grow as they spend more time together.

Will knows that he can not support Susannah in the custom she is use to and refuses to let things go too far until he is capable of supporting her. Can Susannah get Will to realize that their love can survive anything?

I really enjoyed this story. I love Will and need to make sure that his brothers had what they needed even if it meant that he went without something. That really tells you what kind of man he really is. Then we have Susannah, who will do anything for her sister, even try to like something that she has never enjoyed.

I think another reason I really enjoyed this story was that Will and Susannah were friends first. We see them getting to know one another again and even thought each is attracted to the other, they don't act on it for some time. The love grows from the friendship and that was awesome to watch happen.

The next book in the series comes out this summer. I for one, can't wait to read it!

A Gentleman's Game by Theresa Romain

A Gentleman's Game by Theresa Romain

This is book 1 in the Romance of the Turf series.

Nathaniel Chandler has never done anything right in his father's eyes, so when the family's horses need to be taken to the Derby, he volunteers and hopes that he can finally prove to his father that he can contribute to the family business. His father agrees, but only if Nathaniel will take his father's new secretary, so that she can report back about every step of the trip.

Having arrived at the Chandler estate under false pretenses, Rosalind Agate, doesn't want to go with Nathaniel. She needs to be on the estate to complete the job she is really there for. But when Nathaniel offers her much needed money, Rosalind agrees to accompany him.

Neither expected that their time together would bring them a love that neither were looking for!

I enjoyed this story so much more than the introduction to this series (The Sport of Baronets). It was probably because it was longer and there was much more time for the H/H to fall in love with each other.

I also enjoyed this story because we have people form different social classes and that always adds another layer to the story. Without going into too many details, we also have the storyline of who Rosalind's real employer is and how that comes into play.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the Romance of the Turf series which comes out in October!

To Catch a Rake by Sally Orr

To Catch a Rake by Sally Orr

This is book 3 in the Rake's Handbook series.

George Drexel gets visits from all sorts of woman wanting to be in included in future editions of his book, The Rake's Field Guide. Unfortunately all this notoriety is jeopardizing his reputation as an engineer. No one will take him seriously with all the talk about the book, so he has tried to distance himself from it. But when Meta Russell comes calling, not to be in the next book, but to right a wrong that it caused, he finds he has other problems to deal with.

Meta Russell wants nothing more than to see her sister settled into marriage. But when the wedding is called off because of the Field Guide, Meta does everything in her power to get her sister and her fiancee back together again..even if it means spending time with one of London's biggest rakes.

Neither George not Meta had counted on being attracted to the other, but when neither can seem to forget about the other, they wonder if the other is exactly what each of them need.

I liked this story so much better than book 2 in the series, When a Rake Falls.  Both George and Meta were likable characters and I really enjoyed the secondary characters as well (I'm hoping the Orr creates a series about the ladies in Meta's philanthropic group).

It was a light read with nothing too heavy in it! Made for an enjoyable afternoon read!

Highland Spitfire by Mary Wine

Highland Spitfire by Mary Wine

This is book one in the Highland Weddings series.

The MacPhersons and the Robertsons, two warring clans, are called for a meeting with the Queen's Regent. He is determined to stop the fighting between the clans with a marriage: the son of the McPherson and the daughter of the Robertson. They are married immediately, but are soon living apart with their own families, both determined to get an annulment.

But a meeting at a local fair changes all that. They agree to try and make their marriage work. But can these two people, who have grown up being taught to hate one another, make a real marriage after they were forced together?

I really enjoyed this story!! I liked that Wine had them spend the time right after their marriage separated from one another. If gave them both time to get use to the idea of being married to the enemy and to decide what would be best for their clans.

I really liked Ailis was willing to do anything to save her clan. Once she stepped up, then it kinda forced Bhaic to to do the same.  Once they decided to make a go of their marriage, Ailis did everything in her power to fit into her new life and new clan. Her new clan didn't make is easy on her but she persisted. Love a strong heroine!!

I'm excited to see what Wine has in store for us with the next book in the series. I'm not certain when it will be out, but it is definitely on my to read list!

Enticing Her Unexpected Bridegroom by Catherine Hemmering

Enticing Her Unexpected Bridegroom by Catherine Hammering

This is book 4 in the Lady Lancaster Garden Society series.

Sarah Jardin has been in love with David Rochester since he rescued her from one of her many acts of clumsiness. But David has only viewed Sarah as his younger sister's best friend. But that all changes when they are forced to marry.

David wasn't ready to be married, but he decided to make the most of the situation. The couple is soon embroiled in a case for the Garden Society and as David spends more time with Sarah, he finds that he doesn't like of her as a sister anymore.

Can this forced marriage turn into one based on love?

I really enjoyed this story. I did read the other three books in the series before this one and while this could be read as a stand alone, I would recommend reading books 1-3 before starting this one. It will make it that much more enjoyable as you have gotten to know the H/H throughout the series.

Sarah and David had been friends for years and while Sarah has had feelings for David for quite some time, he has never thought of her as anything more than another sister. This makes for an awkward start to their marriage. Neither really knows how to go on with it, which at times lead to many misconceptions about the other.

Throughout the series, Sarah has been the clumsy, awkward friend of the group. As this story progresses, we see her gain confidence in herself and she finally grows out of this stage of her life. It was nice to see her grow through this story.

There is one more book in the series and I can't wait to read it!

How to Capture a Duke by Bianca Blythe

How to Capture a Duke by Bianca Blythe

This is book 1 in the Matchmaking for Wallflowers series.

Fiona Amberley wants nothing more than to dig in the Roman ruins near her home. But her dying grandmother wants to see her married, so she makes up a fiancee to grant her grandmother's wish. That is all fine and dandy until, Fiona tells her grandmother that she will soon meet the man that she will marry. The only problem now is to find a man willing to go along with her deception.

Percival Carmichael, Duke of Alfriston, is in a hurry to get to London and propose to his future wife. He never expected to be waylaid by a highwaywoman wilding a knife.

Just trying to stop the carriage so it doesn't wreck, Fiona never imagined that she would be mistaken for a highwaywoman. But she decides to go again and take advantage of the situation and try to her her "victim" to act like her fiancee.

Will she be able to convience the Duke to do her bidding before he has her arrested?

This was a wonderful debut novel by Blythe! It was quite comical and had me laughing out loud through out the story. There were so many misconceptions that lead to other misconceptions that I didn't have a clue as to how the story was going to end (other than a HEA, of course!).

I can't wait to see what Blythe has in store for us next!

Duke of My Heart by Kelly Bowen

Duke of My Heart by Kelly Bowen

This is book 1 in the Season for Scandal series.

Captain Maximus Harcourt can't believe that he came back from sea only to find his sister missing and a dead man in her bed. What more can go wrong?

Miss Ivory Moore is a "fixer". She knows how to deal with those problems that pop up among the aristocracy. But Max doesn't her help, but soon realizes that she has contacts that he doesn't and she is needed to find his missing sister.

Neither counted on their mutual attraction. Can they fight it long enough to find Max's sister, or does fate have other plans.

I loved this opening book of Bowen's newest series! I really liked Max, but it was Ivory that made this book for me. She was just so different from the heroines in most of the books I read. I love Scandal and Ivory was the Regency period's Olivia Pope!!

If this is any indication of how the rest of the series will be, I can't wait to read the rest of it!! I looks like the next book in the series will be out sometime in July.

A Brazen Bargain by Laura Trentham

A Brazen Bargain by Laura Trentham

This is book 2 in the Spies and Lovers series.

When Minerva Bellingham's brother, Simon, loses a fortune to Lord Rafe Drummond, she is not certain what they will do. Deciding to offer Rafe her dowry, Minerva goes to him with the proposition. She is shocked to hear that Rafe has other plans for them. He wants Minerva to work as a maid and Simon as a stable hand to work off the debt. They must work for three months at his estate, at that point, the debt will be forgiven.

Rafe's decision to have the Bellingham's work for him, came from his desire to make a man of Simon. He could see that he just needed a little guidance to make that happen. Having Minerva join them, was just a little selfishness on his part. Having been attracted to her for some time, he relished spending some time with her. He hadn't counted on the all consuming passion that would develop between them.

When someone from Simon's past threatens their happiness, will they realize that they were meant for each other?

Loved this story!! We met Minerva and Rafe in An Indecent Invitation. You could see the sparks between them then. The bantering between Rafe and Minerva had me laughing out loud.

In AII, Rafe came across as this man that had hardened his heart to everyone and everything (except his sister). We see a different side of him here and learn what made him into the man that his is. Minerva was the perfect person to push back at him and to get him to open his heart once again.

This has been one of my favorite series so far. I really hope that Trentham continues with it for many more stories!! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

Jilting the Duke by Rachael Miles

Jilting the Duke by Rachael Miles

This is book 1 in the Muses' Salon series.

Aiden Somerville, the Duke of Forster, learns that he is to become the co-guardian of his best friend's son. The only problem is that the other guardian is his friend's widow, Sophia Gardiner. Sophia just happens to have been Aiden's fiancee before he left for war. Before even leaving the country, he learns of their marriage and is heartbroken. He will do his duty to his ward, but he has plans of revenge for the boy's mother.

Sophia knew that Aiden would eventually become her son's guardian, but was trying to put off that moment for as long as she could. With Aiden back in her life, she can't help but wonder if they might get a second chance at love.

Aiden is determined to get his revenge, but he realizes that he still loves Sophia. Can that love let him forget about his need for revenge?

I LOVED this story!! I'm always a sucker for lovers being reunited.

I loved watching Aiden interact with Sophia's son. It truly showed you what type of man he was. He was hurt by Sophia and wanted revenge, but you could see throughout the story that his love for her outweighed his need for revenge. We watched as both of them tried to deny that they still had feeling for the other, but when it's true love, there is no denying it!

It's not often that you have a new author that just blows you away with her writing, but Miles is definitely one of them. I can't wait to read the rest of the Muses' Salon Series. I'm sure it will be just as good as this one!!

A Duke by December by Sabrina Darby

A Duke by December by Sabrina Darby

This is book 5 in the A Year Without a Duke series, a multi-author series.

The Duke has finally been found and it is Nathaniel Hughes. Having been poor most of his life, Nathaniel went to America and amassed his fortune. No one is more surprised than he, that the dukedom became his. Taking his secretary and her brother, Nate heads to England to take controls of his estates.

Having been rescued by Nate and made his secretary, Elizabeth Smith had hidden her attraction for Nate, as she knows there is no way that her reciprocates her feelings.

But as Nate comes to count on Lizzie more and more, he realizes that the only way he can make everything work is with her by his side...for the rest of their lives.

This is the last book of five that tells the story of the residents of the Duke of Beckworth's estate. Having read all 5 of them, I would definitely recommend reading them all together, although they could each be read as stand alone.

This was a great conclusion to this series. We finally get the duke settled in, all he needs now is a wife!

When Nate rescues Lizzie, he is given the impression that she wants nothing romantic from him. So he keeps his attraction to himself and tries not to be in situations where they are alone. Because of this, when Lizzie starts to have feelings for Nate, she thinks that her feelings are not reciprocated. All of this leads us on a merry chase following these two to the alter!!

I really liked the way the authors came together to do this multi-author series. I'm hoping that they do it again in the future!

An Affair in Autumn by Jennifer Haymore

An Affair in Autumn by Jennifer Haymore

This is book 4 in the A Year Without a Duke series, a multi-author series.

Markus Hawkins is bound for America in search of the new Duke of Beckworth. After telling Caroline Addison about his trip (Caroline, Markus and the new Duke had been childhood friends), he never imagined that she would also buy passage on the same ship.

After Caroline's marriage, her friendship with Markus had deteriorated, but she wan't going to let that stop her from finding the new duke. But spending time with Markus again, brings forth all the feelings she has kept to herself over the years.

What happens when they both realize that the feelings they have for each other is much more than the childhood friendship they shared?

This is the fourth book of five that tells the story of the residents of the Duke of Beckworth's estate. Having read all 5 of them, I would definitely recommend reading them all together, although they could each be read as stand alone.

I really liked this story. You've got two former friends that haven't seen each other in years because of something that one of them thought about the other (don't want to give too much away!). During their voyage to America, you get to see Caroline and Markus get to know one another as adults who have a little bit of life under their belts.  This was very enjoyable read!

Seduced in September by Genevieve Turner

This is book 3 in A Year Without a Duke series, a multi-author series.

Adele Vere is the perfect governess. She is even tempered, well principled and a model for governesses everywhere. But what others don't know, is that it is not her all. Having lost her mother at a young age, she was taken in by another family where she was instructed on how to be the perfect woman. Can this unlikely duo make a go of it?

This is the third book of five that tells the story of the residents of the Duke of Beckworth's estate. Having read all 5 of them, I would definitely recommend reading them all together, although they could each be read as stand alone.

I loved this story! The chemistry between Adele and Edward was red hot! This is my first story by Turner, but it definitely won't be my last!

Forbidden in February by Suzanna Medeiros

This is book 2 in A Year Without a Duke series, a multi-author series.

Not knowing what his future holds, Robert Milton, travels to London to settle his deceased mother's estate. He didn't count on finding a beautiful woman hanging around his mother's home.

Isabel Durham had been the companion to Robert's mother for the last year. Trying to determine what to do with her life, she decides to stay until Robert takes care of the estate. Getting a letter from her uncle telling her she must marry, Isabel approaches Robert with the idea to ruin her. She wants time to figure out her life and if ruined the man picked out for her won't want her.

But what happens when the two of them realize that they won't more than one night together?

This is the second book of five that tells the story of the residents of the Duke of Beckworth's estate. Having read all 5 of them, I would definitely recommend reading them all together, although they could each be read as stand alone.

I enjoyed this short story by Medeiros. The attraction between Robert and Isabel was there from the beginning and it couldn't be denied by either off them, no matter how hard they tried. Two people who didn't want to get married, find that with the right person, marriage is just what they were looking for.

Rose Leyton is living at the Duke of Beckworth's country estate waiting on her brother and fiancee to return from the war. Feeling restless and bored, she volunteers to help the assistant land agent, Colin Ford, clean up the mess that the land agent left upon his fleeing the estate.

Can the marriage of convience turn into one of love.

This is the first book of five that tells the story of the residents of the Duke of Beckworth's estate. Having read all 5 of them, I would definitely recommend reading them all together, although they could each be read as stand alone.

How to Wed a Warrior by Christy English

How to Wed a Warrior by Christy English

This is book 2 in the Broadswords and Ballrooms series.

Highlander Robert Waters is in London to find a husband for his wayward sister, Mary Elizabeth. When he encounters widow Prudence Whittaker, he knows she would be the perfect person to teach his sister how to be a lady. He just didn't count the the attraction he would feel for Pru.

Pru welcomes working for the Waters. It will give her the money she desperately needs and the anonymity she needs to keep her secret. But like Robert, she didn't count on being attracted to her employer. When friends from the past cross her path, Pru's secret is revealed. Will Robert's feelings change when her learns the truth?

I really liked this story! We were introduced to Robert in How to Seduce a Scot and he just seems to be in London to indulge himself. Alex was in charge of chaperoning Mary Elizabeth and Robert left him to it. Of course with Alex getting married, Robert had to take his place and try to find a spouse for his sister. Of course, once again, it ends with the brother and NOT the sister getting hitched.

I always like a strong heroine and Pru definitely fit that bill. Left to fend for herself, she did what she had to do to survive. After having lost everything and everyone in her life, she never counted on finding love again. It just took one sexy highlander to convience her otherwise!

As with the first book in the series, Mary Elizabeth was a delight and I can't wait to see what English has in store for her!!
